The Arvoredo Marine Biological Reserve consists of islands of Gales, Arvoredo, Deserta and Calhaus de Sao Pedro. It lies on the coast of the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, west of Zimbros Bay and north of the island of Santa Catarina, where is situated the municipality of Florianópolis.

The Arvoredo Marine Biological Reserve has 17,600 ha and was established by Decree No: 99142 of 12/03/1990.

The islands that comprise the Arvoredo Marine Biological Reserve was a traditional destination for recreational diving in southern Brazil since the 1980s. Since 2000, the Reserve was closed to recreational diving by determination of the Law of the National System of Conservation Units SNUG and dive operators started to restrict its operations south of the Arvoredo Island, which is not part of the Biological Reserve. There are regular departures from dive operators starting from Florianopolis and Bombs.
