Located in the Point Reyes National Seashore, this beach is one of only three in world where the Northern Elephant Seal (Mirounga angustirostris) hauls out to boh birth/breed (Jan-Feb) and moult (late spring females and juveniles, mature males in Jul-Aug).

Ano Nuevo just North of Santa Cruz, CA and Cambria, CA (just below San Simeon/Hearst Family Mansion) are the other two sites where this occurs.
