The Golden Gate Yacht Club was founded in 1939, when members built the first clubhouse on a barge located in the San Francisco Marina. After the Loma Prieta earth quake in 1989 the members rebuilt the club in its current location at the end of Yacht Club Rd. to the East of the San Francis Yacht Club. The most famous of its members is Larry Ellison the CEO and founder of Oracle. The Commadore is Norbert Bajurin.
The Golden Gate Yacht Club is the home club of the US America’s Cup team, BMW Oracle Racing.
The Golden Gate Yacht Club is located in the San Francisco Marina’s West Yacht Basin, approximately 1.8 nautical miles east of the Golden Gate Bridge at Latitude – 37 degrees 48’, Longitude – 122 degrees 24’. The Clubhouse is the first yellow building to starboard after you enter the harbor.
