This is a well known longboarder’s paradise.

There are three main breaks:

The Point, Old man’s and Dogpatch.

The Point is in front of the northern parking, and it is the best suited for shortboards in the area.

Old Man’s is south of The Point is the most popular (and often crowded.)

Dogpatch’s is a bit further south by the nuclear plant and has a slow wave that is great for for beginners.

Best times are low to mid tide.

Best swell direction here is south west. This beach is somewhat protected from straight south swells and straight west swells tend to be too chaotic and abrupt.
