On Summer Solstice weekend when people from 50 states and more than 40 countries will be sailing in honor of Summer Sailstice, four Milwaukee sailing groups are inviting everyone, whether ocean-lover, sailor, outdoor enthusiast, or sunny-day lover, to their renowned annual summer solstice celebrations on Milwaukee Bay.

Spearheaded by the nonprofit Milwaukee Community Sailing Center, the Summer Sailstice events are expected to draw some 800 participants, board member Bill Mosher said.

“Milwaukee Bay comes alive with sailboats thanks to Summer Sailstice,” he said, adding that three other groups partner with the Community Sailing Center to make the festivities happen — the Milwaukee Yacht Club, MAST Club (Mid America Sail & Trail), and the South Shore Yacht Club. “(They) all pitch in to help make it a great day on Lake Michigan. Our poker run that goes to five local favorite restaurants has become a tradition.”
